Travel form Hanoi to Mai Chau by motorbikes.

1. Where is Mai Chau in?

Mai Chau is a mountainous district of Hoa Binh province, adjacent to Moc Chau of Son La and Pu Luong of Thanh Hoa. Surrounded by majestic mountains all year round cloud cover of the Northwest, Mai Chau Valley has a dry, cool and fresh climate.
Highlighted by the poetic beauty of the mountainous region, the unique culture of Thai ethnic people and the rustic and charming features of mountain cuisine, Mai Chau is an ideal choice for short-term tours. in the north.

2. Is the road to Mai Chau safe?

One of the advantages of Mai Chau compared to other tourist destinations is the convenient route, does not take much time (only takes about 3 hours to move). To go from Hanoi to Mai Chau needs to go through a rather long hilly road, however, most of the roads are paved, spacious, safe to drive by car or by motorbike. Some roads also go through many places with beautiful scenery, suitable for young people to take a selfie or video.
Nowadays, Mai Chau road has been invested and expanded more than before, so it is very convenient and safe if you want to go on your own.

3. The road from Hanoi to Mai Chau

The first route is about 140km long, usually for motorcycles
You can go towards Nguyen Trai -> Quang Trung -> Ba La -> Chuc Son -> Xuan Mai, Luong Son -> Ky Son, Hoa Binh -> Cao Phong, Tan Lac -> Thung Khe Pass -> Mai Chau
This way is shorter but has to turn at many locations. You need to watch the map and signs along the road to determine the location and next direction.
Route two about 150km, usually for cars
Thang Long Boulevard (Trung Hoa underground tunnel) -> Xuan Mai -> Luong Son -> Ky Son, Hoa Binh -> Cao Phong and Tan Lac -> Thung Khe Pass -> Mai Chau. This route has a longer distance but because it has to go through the highway, it is suitable for cars and takes less travel time. However, motorcycles can still travel on this route but pay attention to the lanes in the expressway.

4. Experience swing from Hanoi to Mai Chau.

Time to ride both rests will be about 4-5 hours. Therefore, you should start the journey at 6:30 am from Hanoi. If going in the winter may be a bit later or vice versa, earlier if in the summer to avoid traffic jams when going from the city center.
Along the way there will be a number of quite crowded road towns, so be careful when moving. At the same time, you can also relax or refuel if needed.
On the whole route, you will go through slopes such as Cun slope, quite long and steep, so please pay attention to the steering wheel. Near Mai Chau Pass, you will pass Thung Khe Pass, also known as White Stone Pass, which is quite beautiful, so you can stop to check-in and take pictures. However, if you go in the early morning or late evening should be careful because there may be fog that reduces visibility.
