Cadillac has just released its new 'Competition' commercial highlighting the brand's performance side with the CTS-V sedan blasting along Germany's famed Nürburgring. But more than that, the new spot recognizes where its inspiration came from and where the brand is heading.

Rather than talk about old Caddys, Cadillac directly states that the CTS-V's was born from the BMW M5 and the Mercedes E63 and a desire to best those two models. This Cadillac achieved, setting a Nürburgring record for a sedan of 7:59 seconds.

The ad then goes on to state that as a brand Cadillac doesn't see its "world's fastest production sedan" record as "something to cherish, but rather a starting line from which to keep pushing." And if the CTS-V is just the start, we can't wait to see what they'll do to top it.
On 24-August, I assked the dealer for a delivery status. He stated that the vehicle had a production code of "1100", however, it was being delayed due to "supplier constraint". Dealer was unable to elaborate on the particulars of this "constraint".

Can anyone shed some light as to why this delay is taking place? Currently, CTS-V coupes are at several dealerships.

I ordered Raven Black, Titanium interior, Recaro seats.

By the way, dealer states that vehicle should be delivered in another 4 weeks!

As many of you may or may not know, Spectre Performance has been developing an Air Intake for our cars. I expected to have all the dyno data to back up the HP gains, pricing, availability date, etc..... but I am waiting on them to give me all the data to post here. As soon as I have it I will post it. As I stated in my other thread I thought I would have it yesterday but that did not happen.

So make as much fun of me as you want............

This is a statement only thread and I DO NOT have the data so please don't ask, I don't know pricing or availability yet.

Here is what I DO know.

1. There is a kit that has been developed and tested.
2. It has a heat shield to replace the factory one.
3. It has a lower section and an upper section.
4. It can be purchased (When Ready) as a whole kit or seperate parts.
5. It has more proven Whp that any kit out there.
6. Gains were measured at the wheels to make sure it is a TRUE Whp number.
7. Dyno sheets will be posted when I get them.
8. I will post all the information (Photos, Pricing, Availability, etc...) when Spectre gives it to me.
9. No additional tuning or tuning module required.
10. Fits under factory engine cover.

I have already apoligized for the delay and I am only going on what I can give.

Based out of High Springs, Florida, Droptop Customs is a specialist in converting coupes to convertibles. The newest creation to their line of products is Cadillac's CTS Coupe and we have to say there's a sort of sporty elegance to the final product. We'll have to wait for this year's SEMA show to see it in person, but given their track record we're confident that it'll be a solid conversion.

And even better are the expectations Droptop Customs has, anticipating to sell around 3,000 of these babies a year. The conversion will consist of a fabric soft-top that will retract into a space above the luggage compartment. Droptop Customs states that the aerodynamics have not been modified – but seriously, who cares if you're getting a convertible.

We'll keep our eyes open for the completed deal at SEMA this year.

General Motors has just announced the filing of papers with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) that will see the company handed back over to investors and removed from government control.

Including in the filing are plans for preferred stock that carries with it both debt and equity and also has priority in a bankruptcy situation.

According to a Bloomberg report, GM hopes to generate $16 billion by the IPO, selling off roughly a fifth of the stock currently owned by the U.S. Treasury. This would then make the government a minority shareholder in General Motors and is likely to be followed by continued sell-offs until GM is entirely out of government hands. Currently the U.S. government owns a 61 percent stake in GM.

GM has already paid back the $6.7 billion in loans it received from the U.S. and Canadian governments, however, that amount is only a small portion of the almost $50 billion bailout GM received.
At a buck forty the supercharged V8 engine continues to pull strong, but there's no more room to test its power as the large six marker at the start of the braking zone is indicating that the time for the middle pedal is now.

Then again, maybe I'll wait for the 5 marker. Or maybe even the four. No, not this time. Not after that high-speed straight. Not without a few more laps… or maybe never.

And then the Brembos dig in, like a high-tech aluminum and iron anchor tossed out the back. Incredibly, the car is completely stable under such tremendous braking.

"Dammit!" I think, having slowed perhaps a bit too early. I could have made more of that back straight. Then again, perhaps I shouldn't risk more. After all, this isn't my high-performance luxury coupe. It belongs to Cadillac.

Yes… Cadillac.

Considering how long it's been around, we were surprised to see the VRS Concept on display at the Concept lawn at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Regardless, it's a unique vehicle using a tubular chassis and a first-gen Cadillac CTS-V engine. The Caddy connection is an obvious one thanks to the dramatic front grille. Equally dramatic is the rear end with a set of massive 22-inch Alcoa wheels.

The connection to Cadillac is an even more direct one than that, however, with company founder Wayne Cherry a former Cadillac designer.

While hardly a concept that's headed to production, when we spoke with a company representative earlier in the week (when the car was on display at The Quail), we learned that at one point six Cadillac dealers had expressed interest in purchasing VRS models as show pieces in their dealerships. That all fell apart with the recession, but with the economy starting to get back on track and Cadillac starting to position itself as competitor in the luxury segment, perhaps Mr. Cherry will have a few customers after all. Heck, knowing the income of the folks viewing the car at the Pebble Beach concours, maybe some of them will pick up a VRS as show-piece for their 12 car garage.

I am working with a shop now and they want me to find out what products people would be interested in them making for our cars. They already make a full CAI and front mount heat exchanger so please do not list these items. Here are some ideas that I have but please share your own:

- headers (reasonable cost)
- modified intercooler
- heat extractor hood (similar to ones on corvettes)
- underhood fan for heat extraction

This shop is looking into drive line upgrades and diff upgrades. They have told me that they will soon be coming out with performance level packages as well. Please comment on both exterior and performance mods.
