: Mallet upgrade for CTS-V
LuckStar 01-31-2005, 06:51 PM On Ebay they have had an ongoing auction for CTS-V with the Mallet heads and cam package. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43903&item=4522496421&rd=1
Doesn't this seem a little steep? Is the Mallet package proven?
Veloce 01-31-2005, 07:19 PM I've seen that CTS-V on EBAY. I do agree, it might be a little steep.
torchredfrc 02-01-2005, 03:34 PM Mallet is a tried and true LSx tuner/modifier. If the claims were made by Mallet, they are probably pretty accurate. Their Corvette packages are very impressive.
torchredfrc 02-01-2005, 03:40 PM I just took another look at that ebay auction... Assuming you can buy a new CTS-V for $47k and can do a lot of the work yourself, this package is a bit overpriced. Ported heads should cost you around 1600-2500 (AFR 205 Heads, not LS6), you can then pick up a performance camshaft and upgraded valve train for <$1k, get a LS2 intake manifold/fuel rails/throttle body (these are all 90mm, just like the F.A.S.T. manifolds but are a fraction of the cost) for <$1k, exhaust shouldn't run more than $1k... you'll need a tune so figure another 500 and you're still under the $62k this clown wants. You probably got a faster car too.
ekool 02-01-2005, 09:00 PM The wheels are turning... where's that winning lotto ticket when you need it huh?
CTSVader 02-05-2005, 06:24 AM That is the same package that I bought but mine has a few other options. For more detail you can go here!!! (http://www.vseries.net/forums/showthread.php?t=73&page=2&pp=10)
Martin Cadillac is an official retailer of the MallettV! Here is one of the pictures of mine there are more in the gallery. (http://www.vseries.net/gallery/)

Awesome to see someone taking advantage of the gallery. If you know some other V owners would would be able to take advantage of it, please let them know.
Those wheels look great... I wonder if we could squeeze in something a bit wider.. I'd like to go with a 315 tire if possible, preferrably on at least a 9.5" wheel, and hopefully a 10" wheel.
carpe dm 02-05-2005, 10:47 AM I have seen the original "mallet V", and have talked to Chuck about it. His shop does super work and the cars (engines) have a beautiful "factory" look to them. Incredible performance stuff. ;) Now, if someone would leave me a fortune........ :D
LuckStar 02-06-2005, 06:01 AM CTSVader, Do you have any times? I am curious
thanks
I would suggest Mallet. They can get alittle pricey but they do work only on Corvettes and Cadillacs, lots of experience. Check out this video of their CTS-V(don't know if it has been posted).http://www.mallettcars.com/events/2004_CD_shootout/CTS-V-final_run.mov

ekool 02-09-2005, 09:53 PM Hrmm... what exhaust is on that car in the videos?
dascrow 02-10-2005, 09:27 AM wow that car is awesome looking!
It has a 7.1 liter engine (one of the performance options)and a Vortech supercharger pushing 16-17 pounds of boost. The exhaust on it is Corsa.
LuckStar 02-11-2005, 04:46 PM Not something one would expect to hear coming from a Cadillac.
But pretty neat none the less, does Mallet have any times? I bet it gets great gas mileage,

ekool 02-12-2005, 01:20 PM It will be interesting to see the difference between the centrifigal supercharger vs. the roots supercharger (magnuson).
LuckStar 02-13-2005, 02:40 PM CTSVader, thanks. I didnt look hard enough at their website
Mallett Racer 02-16-2005, 09:51 PM The centrifigul supercharger is always the better way to go, it causes less heat than a roots and doesn't need as much power to run it, like a Roots charger does.

Has anyone done a longterm study based on longevity? I know the OEM's use the Eaton/Roots style blower because they dont have many warranty issues. I dont plan to put a ton of miles on the car, but its an issue that at least warrants a bit of attention.
Mallett Racer 02-17-2005, 04:05 PM Believe me, Chuck and Lance have done so much testing with both types. They have built so many Corvettes with them even some of the race vettes have gone on to win @ one lap and open road challenge in Nevada. They are more reliable.
