Just sold my '05 GTO and am really missing the LS2, so I am looking at the CTS-V as a replacement.

A couple of questions I have:

Is there a noticeable difference between the two engines to warrant spending the extra cash for the "06 ?

Secondly, what other differences are there between the earlier and later year cars? Pros/cons.

I love the V's and hope to join the ranks someday soon... when the right one comes along !

Thanks for any input you might have!

I believe GM changed the rear differential in the later model year cars to a beefier unit. Other than that and the obvious LS6->LS2 change, I don't think there were any differences.

Personally, having driven an LS6 & LS2 car, I thought the responce was better with the LS6. I would however try to find a LS6 V with the later model differential. GM started having dealers replacing failing units with the newer differentials in late 05/early 06 if I remember correctly.

Everything torchedfrc is correct. There are NO differences between the 06's and 07's also.

Thanks for the input!

What I don't understand are the ones that have had 3 or 4 diffs put in. Did they not upgrade them to the stroger units after the 1st one went out?

I love the looks of the V, I just hope to get one of the "good ones"! Hopefully one will be coming my way soon.
