This prototype has the mesh grill we are all more farmiliar with on the V's. No new information really other than a bit more accurate glimpse at what the V will probably end up looking like compared to the standard NG CTS.

Enjoy!

2009 CTS-V at The Ring from Left Lane News (http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/10/18/2009-cadillac-cts-v-on-the-nurburgring/)

Yesterday, we brought you the first actual photos (http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/10/17/real-deal-2008-cadillac-cts-v-spied/) of a 2009 Cadillac CTS-V prototype. Previous photos (http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/10/05/spied-2009-cadillac-cts-v/) didn't really reveal the true face of Caddy's forthcoming 500+ horsepower hotrod.

As promised, we now have some action shots of the CTS-V prototype on the Nürburgring track in Germany. So far, we have few specifics on the new V-series model. Some sources indicate it will have a 4.6-liter naturally aspirated V8, while others indicate it will use a supercharged V8. There have even been rumors it will share a powerplant with the "Blue Devil"/Stingray Corvette. Gallery after the jump…

If the new Caddy is getting a SuperCharged LS2 from the factory, then I'm in line for an upgrade on my 06. The 09 will still use the LS2 wont it?

Well according to the article the new CTS-V will use a 4.6 litre V8 and S/C it :(

Hi Big Joe,
I think you`ll see the Supercharged 4.4 liter North* engine in the 09 CTS V.
In June I`ve had the chance to drive the XLR V from LA to ABQ (was a friends car) and this engine runs great. I`m sure you`ll love this engine in the next CTS V.

I'm hoping for push rods to be retained in the next CTS-V also. No clue what the reality will be though. The replacement STS and STS-V are going to need to come fast though, as these new CTS's are going to be about the same size and probably have all the same standard and available features. I have an funny feeling that this NG CTS-V might actually get the LS9 supercharged 6.2L to be used in the Corvette SS or Z07 or whatever. I get this sneaky feeling because it will help up the number of engines they can build. I am guessing they are approaching 10,000 Z06's these days, but I doubt they will sell too many more than a thousand or two $100+ super vettes. Sourcing that engine to a few other cars would be just the ticket to get the costs of building such a specialized engine down a good bit. Also, my guess is that the engine will be very cool for a sports car, but will not have the smoothness and refinement of the SC N*. This is OK in a $50k super sedan, but not sure it would fly in a $70K super sedan. Now hopefully the peeps inside GM think like I do!!! Now, the bigger question, if you have a 600hp 50k sedan that gets it's power from a somewhat RAW/Brute force SC engine, how do "UPGRADE" your more refined DOHC N* to match or better that HP number so your higher end vehicle doesn't actually have less power than it's less refined little brother??

Let's hope they think like you :) I like the way you think. They just need to keep the pricing for the CTS-V to right around where it is right now.

I like what you're saying jas. The new LS9 super charged motor would greatly benifit from being put into more than one platform and the CTS-V is a great platform for the LS series motor given it's current success.

I lose my network connection for a few days and this place becomes spam city. Seems the spammers like the mail page "news" topics. Going to start closing them sooner I guess.
