Hello-

I just bought a CTS-V a few weeks back, and I have to say I love the car..but its already in the shop for some big problems.

Car sunroof rattles and was loose....GM changed some clip
Car made alot of noise from drivers side front...turned out to be a bad strut
Car makes a horrible whine from the rear---im still debating the problem with the dealer

Anyhow-I expect to have these issues with cheaper cars like my 03 Cobra..but not this beast...not happy about it at all.

Otherwise..its great fun to drive. Im just hoping it does not turn out to be one big rattle box.

I have not had any problems, yet.

Seems to be tight and good, except for wheel hop.

May put a supercharger on it later.

See ya

My car had a hood rattle which was fixed, and also still has a center console rattle. More then I expected from a $52k caddy as well.

The whine you hear from the rear is the rear differential... get used to it :(

HELLO. I am a auto broker now for the last year and have been in the car
business for over 35 years as a general manager. fleet and truck manager and
so on. my family and I are avid hot rodders and have a few cars from the
60's, but we also always have a late model new performance car of some sort.
pass vehicles include a z06 vette, lots of SS camaros and now have a cts v.
at first I was some what impressed with the car (cts v) and then things
starting going wrong.
1. battery was dead on the car at the dealership when new and they replaced.
I now believe they had to change to ecm. I have run a tech 2 on it and there
is no serial number in the computer.
2. the battery when dead again (less than 500 miles) and had to replace.
seems ok now.
3. the wheel hop was so bad that I did some research and went with BMR
suspensions in Florida and got every part they had and installed them, BIG
mistake. they claim that the wheel hop goes away about 75% and a slight ride
decrease. it was just the opposite. plus now the car goes all over the place
to the point that I am afraid to drive it even a little hard.
4. there has been a clunking or banging noise in the right rear after about
150 miles.
maybe I broke something?? WHEEL HP! this did not change after I installed
the BRM stuff.
the biggest thing now is the car really does not drive right, the wheel hop
is still there along with the clunking noise.
another problem is I am going to have to pull all the suspension stuff off
and probably also pull the exhaust system I did before I take back to the
dealer. since I worked for Chevy for a lot of years I know what the Caddy
dealer is going to say. GET LOST!
I also changed the tires to B F Goodrich (same size) ta kdw2. and drilled
the rotors and chromed the wheels. this will be enough for the dealer to go
off.
My Biggest concern now is the steering and drivability of the car. I have
never been scared to punish a car but this car is now scary to drive.
any one out there think maybe the rear end has a problem or that the t/c or
stability trac is screwed up. maybe ecm not programmed right??
I was hoping to move along with the engine mods, shifter, driveshaft and so
on. NOW it is all on stop!!
need help before I take it back to the Caddy dealer.

Thanks!

Aparently the VIN number not being in the PCM is a very common issue on the 05 CTS-V. I can't speak for the 04 because I have not hooked a scanner up to one. The ACDelco batteries GM has been using is very prone to leaking. In the Corvettes the leaks have caused several PCM problems and have resulted in replacement. I would highly recommend moving to a Optima Red Top battery. Also, I have been told that if you request your VIN to be put in the PCM the dealer should have no problems doing this. If they try to void your warrenty when you ask about this, simply take the car to the next nearest dealership.

The Delco battery is not worth the hassel. Go with an Optima red top.

I think both Lingenfelter and GM Performance Parts make anti-wheel hop kits. I would recommend checking with either of them on this issue. Lingenfelter is a supporting vendor and I'm sure they would be more than happy to help you solve this issue.

If you have not performed any internal mods as of yet, the PCM is probably not where your problem lies. I would bet that there is something wrong with how the wheel hop kit was installed. Have you spoke to your installer about this kit? Talk to the installer and see what he has to say.

2 tires on the right hand side have a tear in them in the same place. Tires failed me at 230 in the morning last saturday. Thank god they are run flats. Any body else have tire failure? I am getting the tires back from the dealer to take pics and complain to the MFG.

Thanks

Nick

Can you post pictures? Did you hit anything? I've not had a tire fail on me other than when I ran over or hit something I shouldn't have.

9000 miles on mine and no problems yet (knock on wood)
