Well, it has for me ;)

I was rowing through the gears at the strip this past weekend, and on the 1-2 shift, damn thing lifted off the shifter assembly. The leather was holding it in place, and I was able to complete the run by granny shifting... popping it back on was easy on the return road, but I am sure it'll happen again.

So, looks like I'll be needing an STS with threads or allen set screws. Anyone know of a good one in a decent price range ($250 or so)

Does the shift knob not have a locking mechanism under the shift pattern? The knob should screw onto the shaft then have a retaining pin that goes in the center of the threaded shaft. Maybe the pin in your knob is sized incorrectly.
