One thing to remember is that the milliage is controlled by the throttle you use, so trying to pass someone in 6th is going to require more fuel than downshifting and passing in 5th. Its easier to get to a higher MPH by downshifting, even though the RPM rise, your still using less fuel than trying to raise to that speed when the engine is at a lower RPM as engines make their peak power at higher RPM.

Try for example, keeping the throttle the same, but downshifting to pass instead of giving it more throttle.

That being said, for normal acceleration, I use 2.5K.

Do most of you agree that shifting at 2500 RPM's is about right?

Yes, somewhere around 2.5K seems about right...but define "economy"? Making your tank of gas last the longest, or making your tank of smiles ride the widest :)

By Economy I mean the best gas milage you can get by driving the CTS-V as close to "perfect" as you can.

I know what GM's numbers are but what are the real world numbers you guys get.
